Warranty Policy and Rim Crash Replacement

Thank you for choosing Scalar Wheels. We are committed to providing the highest quality products and services to our customers. Our warranty policy is designed to ensure that you are fully satisfied with your purchase and have the confidence to ride with our products for years to come.

 

Our premium carbon rims are made durable by the aerospace-grade prepreg and manufacturing techniques used to form them. 

  

All wheelsets purchased from Scalar Wheels come with rims covered by a lifetime manufacturing defect warranty for the original owner. The warranty applies solely to the rims and covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance.  If a manufacturing related defect in the rim is found, please email sales@scalarwheels.com with with the details and we will take care of you. 

  

The rims are also covered with a lifetime crash replacement warranty for the original owner.  Although we don't expect this to happen, if your carbon rim cracks or breaks while riding, please email sales@scalarwheels.com within 30 days of discovering the damage.  We may ask for photos of the damage and additional information such as how the damage occurred, prior to you sending the damaged wheel back.  The wheel should be cleaned thoroughly before being returned, but should remain in the "as-is" damaged condition so that we can inspect the wheel upon receipt.  Please do not cut the spokes or modify the wheel in any way. 

  

This limited lifetime warranty does not cover damage or defects caused by misuse, abuse, negligence, or accidents, or by modifications or repairs not authorized by Scalar Wheels. The warranty also does not cover normal wear and tear, such as cosmetic damage or scratches.

  

Examples of scenarios that will not be covered under this warranty:

  

• You or your friend accidently back over your bike that was sitting in the driveway with a vehicle and crack the rim
• You ship your wheels across the country for a race and the carrier damages them
• You use a metal screwdriver as a tire lever and damage the carbon (please don't do this, regardless of the warranty policy)
• You take your road wheels on single-track and crack a rim after hitting a sharp rock

If an unfortunate event similar to one of these examples does occur, please email sales@scalarwheels.com and we will work with you to get a replacement wheel at a highly discounted rate.  We've got your back.    

Hubs, spokes, and nipples not manufactured by Scalar Wheels default to the warranty stated by their manufacturer.  Scalar Wheels selects top-of-the-line components and does not expect them to break under normal conditions.  Some components, such as hub bearings, are considered wear items and may require regular maintenance by an experienced bike mechanic.  If you have an issue with the spokes or nipples, Scalar Wheels can work with you to resolve the issue. 

The costs associated with fixing a broken wheel for the original owner are:

• Spokes, nipples, etc. (if needed - will be assessed on a wheel by wheel basis.)
• Cleaning fee (only charged if you send a dirty wheel back):  $50  (please clean the wheel thoroughly before sending it back)
• Shipping

The customer is responsible for all shipping costs, to and from Scalar Wheels in San Diego, associated with a wheel rebuild.  Customers may contact Scalar Wheels to take advantage of discounted commercial shipping rates.  Scalar Wheels takes pride in our customer service and will work with you to make this warranty process as quick and as seamless as possible. 

   

For second-hand owners of wheels, please email sales@scalarwheels.com if an issue arises.  A discounted rim and re-build rate will be provided to get you back out on the roads and trails.     

 

Scalar R9 hubs are engineered and designed to handle everyday riding demands.  These hubs come with a 1 year warranty from Scalar Wheels, exclusive of wear items.  Some components, such as hub bearings, are considered wear items and may require regular maintenance or replacement by an experienced bike mechanic.

  

All accessories manufactured and sold by Scalar Wheels, including but not limited to tubeless tape and valves, are covered by a standard warranty for 6 months from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance.

  

Under this warranty, Scalar Wheels will repair or replace any defective product at no charge to the customer, provided that the customer contacts us within 30 days of discovering the defect. The customer is responsible for any shipping costs associated with the warranty claim.

  

This standard warranty does not cover damage or defects caused by misuse, abuse, negligence, or accidents, or by modifications or repairs not authorized by Scalar Wheels. The warranty also does not cover normal wear and tear, including, but not limited to, cosmetic damage, scratches, or dents.
